Applications are invited for two Post-doctoral positions on Soft Robotics.
The Center for Micro-BioRobotics (CMBR), a Network Center of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), based in Pontedera (Italy), is opening two Postdoctoral positions in the Soft Robotics area.
CMBR possesses world class facilities and expertise for developing a new generation of robots made of polymer-based soft materials and inspired by living organisms, such as plants and animals. We work on system fabrication, actuation and sensing solutions using soft smart materials with the goal to create new robots able to exploit the intrinsic properties of their structures (materials, morphology, etc.) for performing tasks in unstructured environments.
The candidates will work on an industrially funded research project: the project will be based on the design, fabrication and development of innovative soft robotic arms for operating in harsh environments.
The winning candidates will be expected to design and develop prototypes of soft arms using different fabrication technologies and characterize materials and structures able to operate in extreme temperature and pressure conditions.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in one of the following areas: Biorobotics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Biomechanics, or a related field.
Experience with hardware design, 3D modelling and technical drawings, assembly and development; soft and smart materials is highly desired. Both junior and experienced (maximum 4 years of post-doctoral experience) candidates will be considered for the position.
Interested candidates should send their application (CV, list of publications and 2 reference letters) to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 28, 2017 quoting “ 2 Post Doc Soft Robotics CB 73527 – 73528”.
