IIT has established a collaboration with the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems of the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia and funds 2 scholarships linked to 2 PhD positions available at the Interuniversity PhD Programme in Chemistry, organized by Università degli Studi di Trieste and Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia. Research and training activities are jointly conducted within IIT infrastructures, and those of the Università Ca’ Foscari and Università di Trieste. This collaboration aims to foster novel approaches in Conservations science and the development of protective coatings for Cultural Heritage.
The positions that will be offered for the academic year 2020/2021 focus on the following research themes: Ancient metals: diagnostics for the characterization and development of protection coatings and Characterization and protection of decorative elements/heterogeneous artworks.
The recipients of the scholarship will develop the project at the Center for Cultural Heritage Technology in Venice, under the supervision of the Center Coordinator, Arianna Traviglia, together with a supervisor at the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems of the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia.
Successful candidates will be part of an exciting and international working environment and will work in brand new laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
Excellent communication skills in English, as well as the ability to interact effectively with members of the research team, are mandatory.
