1 Post Doc position – Smart Bio-Interfaces - [ Postdoc ]

Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is seeking a talented and highly motivated junior Post-Doc, with a strong background in animal and cell biology fields applied to nanomedicine, to work in the area of nanomaterials for in vivo testing.

The selected candidate will work jointly with Prof. Gianni Ciofani, Smart-Bio Interfaces research line, at CMBR, Pontedera (Pisa) and Dr. Rosalia Bertorelli, In Vivo Pharmacology Facility, CCT, Genova.

The candidate will work in the framework of the ERC project “Magnetic solid lipid nanoparticles as a multifunctional platform against glioblastoma multiforme” (SLaMM), aiming at developing smart nanovectors for cancer therapy. The SLaMM project is funded by the European Union's H2020 ERC Programme with Grant Agreement 709613.

The candidate will set-up the appropriate in vivo models, study the nanovector biodistribution and plan and design the In vivo therapeutic efficacy.

Candidate should have experience in, but not limited to, multicolor flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry and mammalian cell culture. Previous experience in xenograft animal models will be considered a plus.

The selected candidate should also have experience in the below listed topics:

  • stereotaxic inoculation of cancer cells;
  • in vivo imaging system (IVIS);
  • histological preparation and analysis;
  • confocal imaging and analysis of small microscopic foci (satellite/migrating tumor cells outside the main tumor mass).

Ideal candidates must have:

  • PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in cancer-related techniques, such as molecular cellular assays and in vivo models.
