Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT is opening a Post-doctoral position in Printed Electronics, with the aim of developing high mobility printable organic and hybrid semiconductors to be integrated in high-performance, fast-switching printed transistors.  

This research activity will be carried out in the “Printed and Molecular Electronics” Research Line, under the supervision of Dr. Mario Caironi, located at the “Center for Nano Science and Technology” of the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Milan (Italy).

The selected candidate will join the team of the PI Dr. Mario Caironi, who has recently demonstrated the fastest organic transistors realized to date world-wide, operating above 100 MHz. Such result allows to rethink organic electronics in terms of applications, envisioning printed circuits with wireless communication capabilities. Yet, further challenges are lying ahead.

The candidate will, in particular, tackle structure-property relationships in printed organic and hybrid semiconductors, mainly involving polymers, and expand current knowledge in the charge transport mechanism. Such knowledge will allow the integration of newly developed printed semiconductors in fast switching printed transistors. 

Eligible applicants are required to have a PhD either in Electronics, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (Energy, Physics, Chemistry, Materials, Electronics).

Proven experimental expertise in organic electronics device fabrication is a minimum pre-requisite. In particular, expertise in structure-property relationship studies for solution processed semiconductors will be considered a strong asset, as well as expertise in printed electronics. The successful candidate is enthusiastic in tackling challenging studies and is naturally interested in the applications of newly acquired knowledge. He/she is fluent in English.
