Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT is opening a Technologist position within the “2D Materials Engineering” Research Line for the wafer-scale integration of high-mobility graphene for photonic applications in the framework of the Future & Emerging Technologies flagship project on graphene and other 2D crystals, Graphene Flagship, funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 881603 for the 2020-2023 period.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to expand the already established research activities and network, also through fundraising activities. He/she will be oriented to the creation of patents and development of relationships with Companies. The candidate will be in charge of research activities on synthesis of high-mobility graphene over wafer scale and its integration on technologically relevant platforms for the development of graphene-based photonics. He/she will have laboratory managing duties and will coordinate scientific projects and interdisciplinary collaborations related to the program. He/she will also coordinate a small team of students and/or Post-docs, within the 2D Materials Engineering group, active on different aspects of the related activity.
The research activity will be carried out at the “Center for Nanotechnology Innovation” of the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Pisa (Italy), within the 2D Materials Engineering Research Line, led by the Principal Investigator Dr. Camilla Coletti.
Eligible applicants must have an early stage (between 3 and 10 years from the PhD) track record of high level publications in international journals in topics closely related to the synthesis of high quality CVD graphene and its wafer-scale integration in photonics platforms. The applicants are also required to have a PhD in either Materials Science, Physics, or Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, and Materials).
Strong experimental expertise in growth of graphene with chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique and its characterization with Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy is compulsory. Proven experience with fabrication and characterization of photonic devices will be a strong asset. The successful candidate will have very good team-working capability and experience in the supervision of students/young researchers. He/she must be fluent in English.
