The Neurodevelopmental Disorders Research Line at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia - IIT (https://www.iit.it/research/lines/neurodevelopmental-disorders), led by Dr. Michael Lombardo, is looking for 2 talented Research Assistants as part of ongoing research understanding multilievel heterogeneity in the autisms.

These positions are funded by a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant Decomposing Heterogeneity in Autism Spectrum Disorders (AUTISMS), Grant Agreement n° 755816.

The research program aims to identify stratification markers that delineate important distinctions within the population of individuals with autism. The work will require successful candidates to aid other lab personnel (PhD students, Post-docs, PI) in actions relevant to the research program’s aims. The laboratory uses multidisciplinary methods that can encompass anything from observation behavioral methods, neuropsychological testing, eye tracking, EEG, MEG, MRI, fMRI, to genomics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will work with the PI, other lab members, and international collaborators on a variety of research-focused actions focused on identifying important subtypes of patients with ASD. The main tasks are, but not limited to, recruitment of participants for new scientific studies, collection and analyses of research data related to new eye tracking, MRI, MEG, and EEG experiments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in a discipline related to the work we do in the lab (e.g., psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, cognitive science, linguistics);
  • Good command of both Italian and English languages.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior research experience working with children and/or adults with neurodevelopmental disorders;
  • Computational skills (e.g. statistics, coding skills in MATLAB, R, Python);
  • High motivation and ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of the field of autism and neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience and in line with international standards.
