The Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies (CBN), an IIT Network Center based in Arnesano, Lecce, is opening 1 Fellow position in the area of “Computational Nanoplasmonics” (PI Dr. Cristian Ciracì).

The main objective of this project is to develop a new tool for modeling absorption and scattering properties of plasmonic nanoparticles. The new tool will be based on the open-source platform FEniCS (fenicsproject.org) and it will include microscopic (quantum) interactions beyond the classical electromagnetism. In particular the candidate will participate in the development of Python interface for the resolution of vector field equation based on finite-element methods. 

The selected candidate will be integrated in an international and highly motivated research group, working in state-of-the-art computing resources. He/she will participate in the development of Python interface for the resolution of vector field equation based on finite-element methods.

The position is intended for graduate students at the Master level possibly with background in programming or numerical physics. The candidate should have the following competences/skills:

  • MSc in physics, nanotechnologies, photonics, engineering or related areas;
  • Proficient in Python and C++;
  • Fluent in English;

All the above competences/skills are highly desirable although not mandatory. Strong organizational skills, creativity, motivation and communication skills (oral and written) will be considered as a plus.

An annual contract maximum will be offered to the candidates.
