Postdoctoral Position in Nanomedicine and Biomedical Imaging - [ Postdoc ]

A post-doctoral position is available in the Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine Research Line (nPMed) at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – Genova to work on the engineering and pre-clinical testing of polymeric nanoconstructs for the treatment and imaging of cancer and inflammatory diseases. The position is available for 2 years and possibly renewable for another 2 years, based on merit and IIT internal regulations.

The Laboratory of Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine focuses on the rational design of nanoconstructs for multi-modal imaging and combination therapies in cancer, cardiovascular and other diseases; fabrication of microfluidic chips for the optimization of nanomedicines and the analysis of tumor biophysics; and development of hierarchical multi-scale computational models. This is achieved by integrating the expertise of biomedical engineers, physicists, chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, and clinical scientists.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, including Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Pharmacy and similar disciplines;
  • a documented experience on the synthesis of nanomedicines for drug delivery and imaging;
  • a documented experience on pre-clinical imaging with different modalities (optical, nuclear and magnetic resonance imaging);
  • a documented experience in cell culturing and characterizations, optical microscopy and flow cytometry analyses, bioanalytical techniques, in vivo techniques;
  • a documented experience in performing pre-clinical experiments on different cancer models (brain, breast) and inflammatory diseases;
  • a strong publication record developed at the interface between Nanotechnology and Biomedical Sciences;
  • the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment;
  • the ability to properly report, organize and publish research data;
  • a documented experience in coaching junior scientists.
