Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT ( is opening a Researcher position on advanced printed electronics for biomedical and healthcare applications within the “Printed and Molecular Electronics” research line (PME, The aim of the project is to enable future large-area and ultra-conformable electronic systems, integrating biocompatible sensors, high performance printed electronic circuits, flexible and light-weight energy harvesters and several communication strategies.

The successful candidate will tackle fundamental studies aimed at improving the electronic properties of printed polymer and hybrid semiconductors, and devise and fabricate advanced polymer and hybrid devices by means of large-area printing techniques, developing their architecture for improved performances and stability. He/she will coordinate a small team of students or young researchers active on the different aspects required to enable future imperceptible healthcare systems. He/she will have laboratory managing duties and will also directly interact with international collaborators, and contribute to expand the already established network.

This research activity will be carried out at the “Center for Nano Science and Technology” of the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Milan (Italy), within the PME group coordinated by the Principal Investigator Dr. Mario Caironi.

Eligible applicants must have a track record of high level publications in international journals in topics closely related to solution-processable semiconductors and large-area, printed organic electronics. The applicants are also required to have a PhD in either Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (Energy, Physics, Chemistry, Materials, Electronics).

Proven experimental expertise in the development of solution-processed electronic devices, especially based on organic semiconductors, is required. Proven team-working capability and experience in the supervision of students/young researchers will be considered an asset. The successful candidate must be fluent in English.
