The Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies (CBN), an IIT Network Center based in Arnesano, Lecce, is opening 1 Postdoctoral positions in the area of “New Technologies for Neuroscience Research”,  in the framework of the FET OPEN project NANO-BRIGHT (PIs Prof. Massimo De Vittorio, Dr. Ferruccio Pisanello and Dr. Cristian Ciracì) grant agreement n. 828972

The main objective of this research line is to develop plasmonic-based neural endoscopes to study and treat pathological states of the brain, including brain tumors, epilepsy and traumatic brain injuries.

The selected candidate will be integrated in a highly interdisciplinary environment in a young and highly motivated research group, working in state-of-the-art facilities. He/she will participate in the development of new all-optical and optoelectronic neural interfaces, with a particular focus on their design, fabrication and characterization.

Highly motivated and talented candidates with backgrounds in photonics, plasmonics and optics are invited to apply for the advertised position. We are looking for a scientist with the following competences/skills:

  • Experience in phase modulation, wavefront engineering or computer generated holograms by using phase masks, spatial light modulators or digital micromirror devices
  • Design and development of advanced optical setups (Confocal Microscopes, Raman Spectroscopy)
  • PhD in physics, nanotechnologies, biophysics, photonics, engineering or related areas.
  • Proven track record of publications in the relevant technical areas and projects.

All the above competences/skills are desirable although not mandatory. Strong organizational skills, creativity, motivation and communication skills (oral and written) are highly required. Finally, proficiency in English is essential.

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience and include additional health benefits.
