Research at IIT is carried out in highly innovative scientific fields with state-of-the-art technology.

A postdoctoral position will be available since June 16th 2012 in the Center for Life Nanoscience (CLNS, Rome, Italy) at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia to work with Prof. Giancarlo Ruocco.

The project will be focused on the realization of a local probe for electrons or positrons, optimized in dimensions and efficiency, for residual cancer tissue identification after removing the bulk tumor mass during surgery.

POST DOC CALL in Cancer stem cells and models of brain tumors

Research at IIT is carried out in highly innovative scientific fields with state-of-the-art technology.
A postdoctoral position will be available since June 1st 2012 in the Center for Life Nanoscience  (CLNS, Rome, Italy) at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia  to work on cancer stem cells and models of brain tumors.
The project will explore:
i) Molecular characterization of brain cancer stem cells .
ii) Mechanisms of regulation of Hedgehog signaling pathway.
iii) Therapeutic targeting of cancer stem cells by natural product library screening.

Ideal candidates should have a PhD in Biology or Cell Biology or Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or translational Medicine, and a good knowledge of both Italian and English is essential.
The ideal candidate should have specific experience with:
i) Isolation and manipulation of brain stem/progenitor or cancer stem cells;
ii) Identification of molecular mechanisms of regulation of Hedgehog signaling pathway and its exploitation for the control of cancer stem cells;
iii) Cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
 
We are seeking a highly motivated Italian or international candidates with an educational background in Molecular Biology and translational Medicine or closely related fields. Successful candidates are expected to have a strong record of past research activity (at least 3 years) with publications in peer-reviewed top journals.
We value scientists with a proactive attitude and results-oriented mindset, good interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary research team.
The employment will be for 3 years, renewable . An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.

Post Doc Opening in Scanning Probe Microscopy

A postdoctoral position will be available from June 1st 2012 in the Center for Life Nanoscience  (CLNS, Rome, Italy) at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia to work with Prof. Giancarlo Ruocco.

The project will be focused on the investigation of  the optical, mechanical and electronic properties of hybrid organic and biological materials by means of Integrated Scanning Probe Microscopy(SPM) and Laser Confocal Microscopy (LCM)

Ideal candidates should have a PhD in Physics and experience in the scientific field.  A good knowledge of both Italian and English is essential. Experience with Atomic Force Microscopy, Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy and Confocal Optical microscopy  would be highly desirable.

We value scientists with a proactive attitude and results-oriented mindset, good interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary research team.

The employment will be for 3 years, renewable. An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.

Research Technologist Call In Microscopy

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT, http://www.iit.it) has created an IIT-Network comprising ten outstations at Italian research institutions. The "Center for Life–Nanoscience" of IIT@Sapienza outstation is affiliated with the University of Rome "Sapienza". It is a research center established in Rome, dedicated to activities of biomedical interest where technological innovation is key to reach the goals. In particular, the scientific activity of the "Center for Life–Nanoscience" of IIT@Sapienza focuses on the study of the molecular, cellular and tissutal processes underlying nervous system dysfunction, as well as brain tumors.

The research "Center for Life–Nanoscience" of IIT@Sapienza is offering a position as Research Technologist in the IIT laboratories that are established at the University of Rome "Sapienza".
