The activities of the Neurotechnology group are at the intersection between neuroscience and engineering. Interdisciplinary competences are converged for developing and validating innovative solutions and instruments for both fundamental and applied neuroscience. Collaborative research is carried out internally at the IIT level and externally (national and internationally). At a glance, our research targets high-tech solutions for efficiently sensing and actuating neuronal activity and for unravelling the basic principles involved in brain dynamic processes. By promoting innovative engineering solutions for this specific field with potential impact on basic neuroscience research, the acquired know-how also provides R&D solutions for advancing brain-inspired hardware and systems.
The main research lines of the neurotechnology group integrate the interrelated fields of neuro-photonics, neuro-electronics, neuro-architectures and culture environments, neuro-robotics and neuro-computation.
