Postgraduate Training Network in Biotechnology of Neurosciences

The main goal of the project is to create a Postgraduate Training Network in Biotechnology of Neurosciences (BioN). BioN is proposed as the first Russian national level network of graduate schools in natural sciences and, in a larger context, as an intellectual innovation initiative to develop biotechnology applications in Russian life sciences. BioN is designed as a network of leading centers in different fields of biotechnology associated with the partner universities and research institutes. Such a network would promote a number of coordinated activities, introduce common standards and practices and would significantly improve the quality of postgraduate education in the Russian Federation.

More specifically, the objectives of the project are to:
- Build a first national level Network of Graduate Schools in Biotechnology in Russia and to establish full three-cycle education in biotechnology.
- Introduce a new curriculum available on a national level and, with teaching in English, at the PhD level.
- Introduce the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) into PhD student education.
- Introduce new principles of quality control based on professional criteria.
- Optimize the use of the available resources to overcome the fragmentation of postgraduate education.
- Stimulate innovations.
- Facilitate national and international information exchange.
- Participate in developing joint European degree in biotechnology.
- Increase employability of the biotechnology graduates and postgraduates.
