Postdoctoral positions on Computational Chemistry at the Italian Institute of Technology, Department of Drug Discovery and Development

Postdoctoral positions both at the junior and the senior levels are available. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Cavalli, Dr. Marco De Vivo and Dr. Walter Rocchia.

Research will be mainly centered on drug discovery projects, some more focused on applications and some more on methodological development, conducted in collaboration with medicinal chemists, pharmacologists and other experimental scientists.

Senior NMR Spectroscopist

The Drug Discovery and Development (D3) unit of the IIT is dedicated to discovering new medicines, and focuses its research efforts on discovery and early-stage development in the therapeutic areas of pain, inflammation, and Alzheimer’s disease. Its internal research engine of 70 scientists and staff work together with partners in the pharmaceutical industry and venture capital world to advance discoveries to the public and the market.

To strengthen its research programs, the D3 is looking for a: Senior NMR Spectroscopist

The successful candidate will be in charge of the NMR Discovery laboratory, which supports small molecule drug discovery programs working closely with the Structural Biophysics facility. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the art Bruker instrumentation, including a 400 MHz spectrometer and a 600 MHz spectrometer equipped with a 19F, 1H probe-head cooled at low temperature. Automatic sample changers (Bruker sample-jet) are provided to both instruments for maximum throughput.

Medicinal Chemists (Team Leader Level)

The Department of Drug Discovery and Development is looking for medicinal chemists to strengthen its research programs in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease, Chronic Pain, and Inflammation.

The successful candidates are motivated scientists with a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry, and at least four years of postdoctoral experience as medicinal chemists in a pharmaceutical industry or academic setting.

The Department of Drug Discovery and Development of the Italian Institute of Technology is the Research Unit of the IIT dedicated to the discovery of innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need – Alzheimer’s disease, chronic pain and inflammation.

Postdoctoral research positions are currently available in our Medicinal Chemistry group. The candidates will play a significant role in our drug discovery projects through the design and synthesis of new pharmacologically active compounds. They will be part of an exciting and international working environment, and will work in brand-new laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
