Alberto Parmiggiani was born in Modena in 1982. In 2006 he graduated summa cum laude in Mechanical Engineering at the Universita\' degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, with a thesis on structural analysis for biomechanical prosthesis design.
In 2004 he worked at Highftech Engineering s.r.l. where he completed and validated a setup for experimental modal analyses of aerospace thin-walled structures.
In 2005 he participated in a stage program at the Von Karman Institue for Fluid Dynamics (Brussels, Belgium). At VKI he was involved in a project to develop new devices for the passive protection of jet engine compressors from flow instabilites.
After graduating he worked at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Modena (DIMEC), focusing on problems related to prosthesis design and volume reconstruction from medical MRI data; this activity ended in January 2007 when he enrolled at IIT as a PhD student.
He is currently devoting his interests on high performance robots characterized by fast dynamics and energy efficient movements, these tasks being possibly obtained by exploiting passive dynamics. A complementary aspect of his work is the developement of a suitable control scheme to accomplish these objectives.
