Post Doc - Nanophysics, Smart Materials

naph

BC: 68461

The Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia - IIT - was founded with the objective of promoting the country's technological development and further education in science and technology. In this sense, IIT’s scientific program has a strong multidisciplinary character, merging expertise from different platforms from neuroscience to drug discovery, from nanotechnologies to computation.

In the area of materials’ processing, development and characterization, the Institute possesses world class facilities and expertise in nanoparticles and nanocomposites production, with emphasis to magnetic, conducting and bioactive composites, nanofabrication, surface science, thermo/mechanical polymer reinforcement, new class of all-natural polymeric nanocomposites, laser spectroscopy, confocal and scanning probe microscopies, third generation photovoltaics etc.

Close collaborations exist with industry, university departments, and other research centers in Italy and abroad.

Applications are invited for 1 Post-doctoral fellow to be involved in an Industrial project for the development of water-resistant biocompatible paper-based food containers.

The research activity will take place in the Nanophysics Department, Smart Materials Platform, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, which is located in Genova, Via Morego 30, 16163 Italy.

Post-doc opening in Biophotonics

CB:68330

A post-doc position is available on a research program in the context of biomedical imaging at Q*, a joint research centre in Florence created by the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ), the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), the European Laboratory for Nonlinear Spectroscopy (LENS) and the University of Florence.

In particular, we intend to develop detection and imaging techniques devoted to perform lifetime and vibrational spectroscopy on molecular states both in living cells and living organisms.

The aim is to characterize cellular states under specific physiological conditions and pathologies, such as cancer, infections, etc. New microscopy techniques will be designed and developed in order to correlate chemical content analysis with sub cellular compartment activity. Accordingly, novel sample preparation protocols will be introduced towards artifacts minimization. Moreover, new biomedical detection devices (such as optical miniaturized endoscopes) will be designed, developed and characterized in order to perform early diagnosis of a variety of pathologies, including cancer, on patients in different fields of medicine.

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:
