Bone tissue affected by osteoporosis

The current therapy of osteoporosis is based on a class of drugs called bisphosphonates. The first bisphosphonate, alendronate, was invented in the 1980s by Giorgio Staibano e Sergio Rosini at the Istituto Gentili research laboratories in Pisa.
