Valeria Capurro got her degree from Università degli Studi di Milano in Biology Applied to Biomedical Research in 2006 with a thesis focused on cognitive impairments induced by Salvia divinorum main active ingredient, Salvinorin A, in rats. In the following years she continued working in behavioural pharmacology under the supervision of prof. Mariaelvina Sala in Milan where she was able to investigate various aspects of behaviour in rodent models, such as addiction, cognition, anxiety, depression, social and aggressive behaviour etc. She joined D3 in vivo pharmacology team in april 2010 while still working on her PhD which she got in 2011. In D3 she is focusing on cognitive impairment models and lung inflammatory diseases.
She is author of several papers in major international journals and received the IUPHAR/NIDA Young Investigators Award in 2009 for her studies on Salvinorin A.
