Esther Torrente was educated at the University Autónoma de Madrid (Spain) where she graduated in Chemistry in 2003.
She received her PhD in Organic Chemistry from the same Institution in 2010 under the supervision of Prof Jose Luis Garcia Ruano, working on “Asymmetric Synthesis of Quaternary Stereogenics carbons Mediated by a Remote Sulfinyl Group”.
As a part of her PhD program, Esther spent 4 months in 2006 as visiting scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Saverio Florio, Department of Pharmacy and Chemistry, Università degli Studi di Bari (Italy), working on “Synthesis and Reactivity of 2-p-Tolylsulfinylphenyloxiranes”. And more later in 2010 she spent 3 months in the laboratory of Prof. Alessandro Degl’Innocenti, Department of Pharmacy, Università degli Studi di Firenze (Italy) working on “Synthesis of Enantiomerically pure 1,2-disubstituted 2-Selenoamines”.
In 2011, Dr. Torrente joined the group of Prof Prof. Stephen Connon, Department of Chemistry, Trinity College of Dublin (Ireland) as Post-doctoral Fellow and her research project focused on the field organocatalyst and more concretly on synthesis and design of new organocatalyst.
Dr. Torrente joined the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Febrary 2012 as Junior Post-doctoral Fellow in the Drug Discovery and Development Department (D3).
