2010 – ROCK’N - Researchers on the rock (Part of a large EU-7FP CSA)
The main objective of the project was the enhancing of public recognition of researchers and their work. Specific goals were also favouring direct contact between researchers and public, bringing researchers closer to the public at large by an informal approach and the realisation of funny and amusing events inside prestigious and attractive sites.
In particular, our group, in collaboration with the Nanophysics department of IIT, organized an exhibition called “We’ll meet you in the virtual reality!”, in which images from a laser scanner were shoed to the public in a stereoscopic 3D environment. Children and adults were able to see different layers of artefacts and rocks, interacting with a virtual world simply with their hands and wearing shutter glasses. The venue was the Villa Pallavicini in Pegli (GE), Italy, in September 2010.
