Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia invites applications for a postdoc position in the Quantum Materials Theory Research Line in Genoa, Italy.
The research combines analytical (model Hamiltonians, low-energy effective models) and numerical methods (DFT, DMFT, Monte-Carlo) in an effort to understand and manipulate complex orders in realistic materials, such as non-collinear magnets with spin spirals and skyrmions, or multiferroics, where multiple orders coexist and interact.
We work in close collaboration with experimental groups that are synthesizing and characterizing novel functional bulk materials and nanoparticles.
The successful candidate will pursue his/her research, participate in close collaborations with experimentalists to interpret their results, contribute to journal club seminars.
Requirements: excellent knowledge of theoretical or computational condensed matter physics, good command of written and spoken English; familiarity with Mathematica software, programming languages, ab-initio codes. A PhD degree is required.
